Set of 2 cane and brown leather chairs

Sold in sets of 2, the Arsène chairs combine two materials: a light, natural woven cane backrest and a thick, warm brown buffalo leather seat. They are our favorite in the collection.

The leather’s pronounced grain is visible on the surface, with the irregular variations of natural leather: it develops a patina over the years and darkens slightly, while signs of use become part of the material. Firm at first, the buffalo leather gradually softens with contact. Once or twice a year, a special leather balm helps maintain its suppleness. The slim black metal frame echoes the lines of bistro chairs. The compact 40 x 35.5 cm seat makes it possible to add seating in a small dining area; at 48 cm from the floor, it pairs with tables measuring 74 to 78 cm high. Stackable, the Arsène chairs can be stored in one simple move.

Our interior design expert’s inspiration: the brown leather and cane pair beautifully with light wood. The ideal table features a round light oak or ash top on a central black metal base: the light wood highlights the weaving, while the base echoes the lines of the chair legs. Add an ecru linen tablecloth and a rattan pendant light overhead, and you have the spirit of a country-house bistro. Full-grain buffalo leather: the top layer of the hide, neither sanded nor corrected. The densest and most durable, it retains its original grain.
Firm at first, it softens with use and moulds to the shape of the body.
An earthy, musky smell typical of buffalo, a mark of authenticity: it fades within a few weeks; let the product air out.
It develops a patina and darkens slightly; scratches and signs of use are part of the material and do not affect its strength.

Dust the leather with a soft, dry cloth or a fine-bristled brush, following the direction of the grain. Clean marks with a barely damp cloth, then dry immediately. Do not use any chemicals, solvents, alcohol or stain removers. Once or twice a year, apply a special leather polish or balm to nourish it. Avoid direct sunlight and proximity to a heat source.
Dust natural cane with a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. Two or three times a year, wipe the underside of the cane with a barely damp sponge to prevent it from drying out, then leave it to air-dry: it cannot withstand prolonged dampness or heavy loads placed on it.
For the metal, a damp cloth followed by a dry wipe is sufficient.
