65 cm Dark Brown Buffalo Leather Kitchen Island Stool

The Malo bar stool combines a solid round seat, upholstered in dark brown buffalo leather with a pronounced grain, with slender black metal legs encircled by a footrest that eases leg strain. The leather is natural: it develops a patina and darkens slightly over time, while signs of use become part of the material.

Firm at first, the buffalo leather softens with use. With a 65 cm seat height, the stool fits in front of a kitchen island or worktop measuring 90 to 95 cm; without a backrest, it can be tucked underneath after meals. Sold individually, it lets you adjust the number of seats at the counter. Wipe away spills promptly, and condition the leather with balm once or twice a year.

Our interior expert's inspiration: dark brown and black metal call for lighter elements opposite them, such as a light oak worktop or beige stone. Line several stools up along the island, beneath two or three rattan pendant lights that warm up the black line.

Full-grain buffalo leather: the top layer of the hide, neither sanded nor corrected. The densest and most durable, it retains its original grain.
Firm at first, it softens with use and moulds to the shape of the body.
An earthy, musky smell typical of buffalo leather, a sign of authenticity: it fades within a few weeks; allow the product to air out.
It develops a patina and darkens slightly; scratches and signs of use are part of the material and do not affect its strength.
To choose the right seat height, bear in mind that the space between the seat and the table should be approximately 25–30 cm.

Dust the leather with a soft, dry cloth or a fine-bristled brush, following the direction of the grain. Clean marks with a barely damp cloth, then dry immediately. Do not use any chemicals, solvents, alcohol or stain removers: buffalo leather is a natural leather that cannot withstand them. Once or twice a year, apply a shoe polish or a special leather balm to nourish it and maintain its suppleness. Avoid direct sunlight and proximity to a heat source, as these dry out the fibres.
For the metal, a damp cloth followed by drying with a clean cloth is sufficient: do not use corrosive products, and dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
