Set of 2 red-brown buffalo leather chairs

Sold in sets of 2, the Célestin chairs are upholstered in thick buffalo leather, in a warm, bright reddish brown. The seat is round, while the curved backrest features a central seam that follows its shape. Buffalo leather is among the thickest upholstery leathers: its deep, pronounced grain can be seen on the surface, along with the irregular variations of a natural hide.

This leather develops a patina over the years: it darkens slightly, while signs of use become part of the material. Firm at first, the buffalo leather gradually softens with use. The seat is filled with 32 kg/m³ foam, offering medium support between soft and firm. The curved backrest supports the lower back. At 50 cm from the floor, the seat is slightly higher than standard dining chairs and pairs well with tables measuring 76 to 80 cm high. Slim black metal legs support them.

Our interior designer’s inspiration: around a raw wood table, the reddish brown leather pairs beautifully with both light woods and darker shades. The round seat and curved backrest look good from every angle: these chairs hold their own in an open-plan room, where their backs are visible. Choose two and mix them with simpler seats already in place, so the leather stands out.

Full-grain buffalo leather: the top layer of the hide, neither sanded nor corrected. The densest and most durable, it retains its original grain.
Firm at first, it softens with use and moulds to the shape of the body.
The earthy, musky smell typical of buffalo leather is a sign of authenticity: it fades within a few weeks; allow the product to air out.
It develops a patina and darkens slightly; scratches and signs of use are part of the material and do not affect its strength.

Dust the leather with a soft, dry cloth or a fine-bristled brush, following the direction of the grain. Clean marks with a barely damp cloth, then dry immediately. Do not use any chemicals, solvents, alcohol or stain removers: buffalo leather is a natural leather that cannot tolerate them. Once or twice a year, apply a special leather polish or balm to nourish it and maintain its suppleness. Avoid direct sunlight and proximity to a heat source, which can dry out the fibres.
For the metal, a damp cloth followed by a dry wipe is sufficient: do not use corrosive products, and dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
