Description
Description
The Octave armchair takes up the silhouette of the butterfly chair, designed in Buenos Aires in 1938 by three architects who had worked in Le Corbusier’s studio. A broad piece of buffalo leather, stretched and falling into four points, is supported by a crossed black metal frame. The slim, angled legs are those of the original model.
The thick leather, in a warm brown, takes the shape of the body once you sit down: the low seat and inclined back make it a chair for relaxing. Its deep, pronounced grain can be seen on the surface, with the irregular nuances of natural leather. Over the years, the leather develops a patina and darkens slightly, while signs of use become part of the material. Firm at first, the buffalo leather gradually softens and adapts to the way you sit.
Our interior expert’s inspiration: give it room to breathe. The butterfly chair is designed to be viewed from all sides, and sits better at an angle in a reading nook than lined up against a wall. Beside it, the Côme side table in walnut veneer is a perfect match: a round tabletop and conical leg, a discreet line beside the crossed frame, and walnut that pairs beautifully with the brown leather. A wool throw draped over the canvas completes the nook. The Octave is also available in khaki-brown goatskin.
Color note: the actual shade may vary slightly depending on screen settings, photo lighting, and the natural variations of the materials.

Full-grain buffalo leather: the top layer of the hide, neither sanded nor corrected. The densest and most durable, it retains its original grain.
Firm at first, it softens with use and moulds to the shape of the body.
An earthy, musky smell typical of buffalo, a sign of authenticity: it fades within a few weeks; allow the product to air out.
It develops a patina and darkens slightly; scratches and signs of use are part of the material and do not affect its strength.

Dust the leather with a soft, dry cloth or a soft-bristled brush, following the direction of the grain. Clean marks with a barely damp cloth, then dry immediately. Do not use any chemicals, solvents, alcohol or stain removers: buffalo leather is a natural material that cannot tolerate them. Once or twice a year, apply leather polish or balm to nourish it and maintain its suppleness. Avoid direct sunlight and proximity to a heat source, as these dry out the fibres.
For the metal, a damp cloth followed by a dry wipe is sufficient: do not use corrosive products, and dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
