Brown buffalo leather armchair

The Gustave armchair draws on the codes of 1930s lounge seating: a low profile, a wide seat and back worked with vertical channels, and a crossed X-shaped base in black metal, whose curves support the leather shell. The thick brown buffalo leather features a pronounced grain and the irregular nuances of a natural material: it develops a patina and gradually darkens, while signs of use become part of the material.

Firm at first, the buffalo leather softens with use and takes on the imprint of the places where people sit. With a depth of 80 cm and a seat height of 43.5 cm from the floor, Gustave is a relaxation armchair, inviting you to lean back to read or chat. Wipe away spills promptly, and nourish the leather with a balm once or twice a year.

Our décor expert’s inspiration: position it at an angle in a corner of the living room, on a graphic rug. Beside it, the Côme side table in walnut veneer fits perfectly: round and low, it slips neatly next to the X-shaped base, at seat height, while the walnut warms up the brown leather. A large plant behind it completes the nook.

Full-grain buffalo leather: the top layer of the hide, neither sanded nor corrected. The densest and most durable, it retains its original grain.
Firm at first, it softens with use and conforms to the shape of the body.
An earthy, musky smell typical of buffalo, a sign of authenticity: it fades within a few weeks; let the product air out.
It develops a patina and darkens slightly; scratches and signs of use are part of the material and do not affect its strength.

Dust the leather with a soft, dry cloth or a fine-bristled brush, following the direction of the grain. Clean marks with a barely damp cloth, then dry immediately. Do not use any chemicals, solvents, alcohol or stain removers: buffalo leather is a natural leather that cannot tolerate them. Once or twice a year, apply a leather polish or balm to nourish it and maintain its suppleness. Avoid direct sunlight and proximity to a heat source, as these dry out the fibres.
For the metal, a damp cloth followed by a dry wipe is sufficient: do not use corrosive products, and dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
