100 cm green buffalo leather bench

The Émile bench features a long seat in deep green buffalo leather, crafted with fluting along its entire length and set on slender black metal legs. The thick leather displays a pronounced grain and the irregular variations of a natural material; it develops a patina and gently darkens over time, while scratches and signs of use become part of its story without compromising its strength.

Firm at first, the buffalo leather softens with use. Measuring 100 cm long and slim (31 cm deep), Émile is an occasional bench that slips into places where a chair would take up too much room: at the foot of the bed, in the hallway for putting on shoes, or alongside a table to provide two extra seats. Sturdy, it supports up to 200 kg. Like all natural leather, it should not remain wet: wipe away any drops promptly and condition it with a balm once or twice a year.

Our interior designer’s tip: place it at the foot of the bed, on a wool rug, with a folded throw and a wicker basket on the floor; the deep green leather and black metal add a confident touch to a bedroom in soft tones.

Full-grain buffalo leather: the top layer of the hide, neither sanded nor corrected. The densest and most durable, it retains its original grain.
Firm at first, it softens with use and conforms to the body's shape.
The earthy, musky smell typical of buffalo is a sign of authenticity: it fades within a few weeks, so allow the product to air out.
It develops a patina and darkens slightly; scratches and signs of use are part of the material and do not affect its strength.

Dust the leather with a soft, dry cloth or a fine-bristled brush, following the direction of the grain. Clean marks with a barely damp cloth, then dry immediately. Do not use any chemical products, solvents, alcohol or stain removers: buffalo leather is a natural leather that cannot tolerate them. Once or twice a year, apply a leather polish or special leather balm to nourish it and maintain its suppleness. Avoid direct sunlight and proximity to a heat source, which can dry out the fibres.
For the metal, a damp cloth followed by a dry wipe is sufficient: do not use corrosive products, and dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
